Babies in Bloom: Early Literacy Tips! December 2015

Babies in Bloom… IN ACTION with Elaine Conway

Babies from birth to 18 month (with caring adult) enjoy songs, action rhymes and playtime while building early literacy skills. A great way to get to know other families in your community!

Early Literacy Tip (Empower): Book Knowledge (Dec 2, 2015)

When children are young, they play with books the same way they would with any other toy— they play with them. Keep hardy books in the toy box, so that they can explore them. Just like our choral reading books, board books in particular can handle a lot of play.

Later, during the playtime, a guardian approached me, smiling. She said that she had never thought of treating baby’s books just like toys, and that it was a great idea. She wanted her granddaughter to think of books as fun things to read!

Its always so nice to get immediate feedback.
